Correct!...The frame is old but the rope is new...It is improperly strung and tied off.....But, still a simple design....

Isn't that a frame for what they called a "Day Bed" that was used in a house something like a chaise lounge?

For the soldier of the AWI, cots would be uncommon. Straw stuffed in a mattress sack would be the normal bedding.

That's what I use. Hauled around fully stuffed, it's a PITA, and takes up a lot of room in the vehicle, but man, oh man, is it ever nice, warm, and comfy on a chilly, even downright cold night.

Problem with rope bed...Sleep Tight came from how bad ropes stretch,if not getting a lot of tightening you soon have a hammock

Lord... I've been thinking about making one of these darned cots... can't get it off the mind. When I drag the bellback around it sure would be nice to have.

Another project coming I'm guessing...

I'm getting to the point were I've slept on the ground plenty, time to step it up a notch!
