First ripe mater is a bloody sacrifice consumed in the garden without any embellishments, in sight of his immature friends.

Any mayo would be the wrong mayo. Y'all are ruining the flavor of the tomato. Tomatos taste great by themselves, they don't need any help from mayo.
I eat them right off the vine too.
 
31 degrees in Georgia tonight. Should be the last one this year. Ready to plant tomatoes and more. We have some pesky deer, squirrels and rabbits.

Squirrels ate our peaches last year. My wife said she could make a peach and squirrel pie. Unfortunately we live within the City limits, but I have a crossbow! AND an airgun. Maybe one shot with a flintlock would not disturb anyone!

Hmm isn't it to ok kill critters pillaging our garden? Venison Pie? Sheesh.......

Someone left 5-6 potatoes on the counter top at our church kitchen last month. They have sprouted and it was up to me to clean up. I figured I may as well plant them. Cut up, I got 17 pieces out of them. I haven't had much experience in potato planting. Is it too late? (I'm in South Texas) How deep a trench or how much soil goes on top of the "seed". I think they had purple flowers, at least I can maybe attract some bees if I don't eat them.
 
You may be a little late is south Texas but if you have the room why not. I haven’t grown potatoes for years but they don’t need to be deep, just an inch or two. One year we planted them on the side of the hills made with a corn lister and just covered them with straw. It worked well and not a lot of digging for the new potatoes.

Like Kansas Jake said they don’t have to be deep. Back when I grew potatoes I planted in rows a few inches down. Once the plants start growing good you can rake more soil on top.

Can't help with the timing, but I lived next to a small farm in Maine, that did shares. They planted potatoes in long raised mounds, so the also grew out of the sides. You could harvest from the sides also. I don't know all the rational, but being above ground level would keep them out of water, but in drier areas that might need more water.
 
Like I said , I don't have alot of experience in this department. They would not grow very well in that black gumbo dirt back home. Here I have a sandy loam , so maybe? Anyway I'm in it for the flowers. I want bees!

🤣 To be honest friend, I've never tried Dukes, or Blueplate. I have heard it sparks fierce debates in some circles. I will say I'm not a fan of miracle whip.
I was raised on Hellman’s and would use no other for decades. But when I was about 40 I switched to Dukes and have never looked back. It tastes like Hellman’s used to.

That's something I wouldn't know about, I haven't willfully tasted mayonnaise in over 50 years.
Some things just have to have mayonnaise in my opinion, like a leftover turkey sammich 2 or 3 days after Thanksgiving. Mayo and enough black pepper to choke a small horse. Good eating right there.
 
Oh, I don’t EAT mayonnaise! Like ketchup, I use it as an ingredient. My late mother’s macaroni and potato salads have to have it in the dressing or it doesn’t taste right. I buy the smallest bottle when I’m planning to make one. Otherwise, we don’t have it in the house.

On a gardening note, we had what should be our last frost last night. Maybe another one coming up on Thursday, but then I should be clear. My peas are coming along nicely. At work, we’re doing an Agriculture themed day on the 6th of April so I started some corn and some herbs, and they’ll be ready to transplant by then. In a museum it’s always a compromise between doing things the way they did 400 years ago and making sure that we have stuff for the visitors to look at- while a certain amount of agricultural failure is historically accurate, we don’t want people thinking that our ancestors were idiots who didn’t know how to farm.
