Well the Grandson who is 7 had a great time. I am not associated with the group who had the rendezvous (yet) but as guest we were welcomed by all. We went down to the range first and one of the guys showed my grandson how a muzzle loader was loaded and let him shoot it. At that point the grandson took off with a group of kids and played all afternoon. I went to the car and got the 54 GPR and shot some targets with my new found black powder enthusiasts. I was worried that my shooting might not be up to snuff but that was not a problem. These guys by and large had custom guns that were beautiful and all flint locks . One guy like me had a GPR percussion and a number of them mentioned they had started with the GPR.
The grandson and I left about 2 and headed to a friend's ranch about 45 miles away for an late afternoon atv ride in the woods, some 22 shooting, and finally a camp fire cookout..
He has advised me that he is now old enough to go on the family deer hunt next season with his 4 uncles , me, my son and adopted son , and his 3 older cousins . I have somehow been appointed the task of making sure he has a new rifle cause his cousin got one from me. ( Imagine That )
