Good Morning All.
I have been interested in trying out black powder for a loooonnnnnnggggggg time and have been kicking myself for not getting a black powder revolver back when I considered them inexpensive. Recently I started watching online auctions for cap and ball revolvers and I just scored one for $84 and shipping. I'm excited to learn how to do this without blowing up a gun and loosing fingers. :) One of my first posts after this will be to figure out exactly what I have - I know it's a .36 cal replica of a Colt 1851 Confederate Navy, but not who actually manufactured it.

Welcome from Upstate New York's Central-Leatherstocking Region.

1851 Colt "Confederate" Navy? Colt never made a "Confederate" version so it is likely a modern Pietta or Armi San Marko (CVA) fantasy piece. Does it have a brass frame? Still fun to shoot.

Welcome! Where do you shoot at down there?
Ughhh. I moved down here from Georgia where I got to shoot all of the time. Down here in South Florida, it's very population dense, and there are only a handful of government outdoor ranges to shoot at. They are nice facilities, but very rule heavy (understandably). We have a bunch of indoor ranges around, but I like shooting outdoors the most.

My most frequented range is the Palm Beach Shooting Sports Complex created by the Florida Fish & Wildlife Commision and Palm Beach County.

I used to live there. Many indoor ranges but few outdoors where black powder could be used.
Markham Park in Sunrise was good but you will wait a long time to use the range.
Also a public range in Sebastian but that is a bit of a drive.
