After looking around for a while to find my first gun project I finally found one. I got a really cheap unworked on CVA pre-carved frontier stock with barrel, under rib, and end cap. The rest of the parts are missing from the kit.
I think I will mix and match the pieces missing and not worry about using CVA pieces unless necessary.
My father has a CVA frontier so I know the buttplate it just a bent piece of brass, but I want something nicer with a comb. The dimensions of the butt-stock are 4 5/8" long, 1 9/16" wide, and 5/8" of inward curve.
Track of the wolf's golden age buttplates seem to come pretty close to these dimensions. Any suggestions on a particular buttplate? I am guessing CVA did not design the frontier to be historically correct so I will not worry on this gun about being PC just about making it look nice.
I want to try making a simple patch box myself out of sheet brass. Do you think there is enough room in the stock for a patch box, since there is no cheek piece?
