When cleaned, unloaded and stored away, do you guys store your rifle with the hammer down on the nipple or is it resting between a piece of leather like some members do? Does it really matter?? Thanks.

Once a gun is cleaned and ready to put away, I would just be sure the hammer was down to take the stress off the main spring. No point storing a gun with the spring compressed. If placing something between the hammer and nipple makes you feel better, go for it.When cleaned, unloaded and stored away, do you guys store your rifle with the hammer down on the nipple or is it resting between a piece of leather like some members do?
