Inflation is dangerous and can have a cascade effect. As prices rise on base supplies like steel and lumber all aspects of the economy are affected. Contractors now cannot resonably bid as they do not know what their material costs will be. As a result they put out huge numbers which, in turn, causes folks to either cancel halfway thru or back out altogether. Companies now send out lien notices on sub 1K projects for fear of not getting paid and banks are looking at curtailing construction loans. Home insurance will skyrocket as rebuild costs are nuts. I believe it the lefts intent to drive us into a major depression.

Forever. Forever.

Like i said earlier just had a metal garage built . As i said before the EXACT Cost when i ordered it on Feb 28, 2021 was $9856, Had i waited till March1, 2021 price would have been $14,301 due steel price hikes. Also the internet tax would have been huge had i not been in OR. In a panic i bought all new appliances (washer, dryer, fridge, heat pump etc) cause they will go up. My Muzzleloading related question is how much more are all the steel parts for my next build gonna cost??? Is there and emoji for terror?

Own a nice duplex about 10 miles from our house. Have a widow lady in one side and a retiree in the other. Both have lived there for over 10 years. The retiree told us he’s moving to Tennessee to live with his son. Put an add in the paper on Monday, it started yesterday, for the open side. This morning, before 11:00 I got calls from four real estate agents saying they had buyers with cash in hand ready to pay any price i wanted....???

What is wrong with people?

Remember that clown, jimmy carter, and his idea that we had to destroy the economy to save it? I think coloradoclyde is a disciple of his economic theory.

Two issues, Money in the bank is losing buying value daily and only investment available to most is real estate. Running 9-12% increase projections here in OR coast. Downside is we were flat told by a rental agent to forget becoming landlords. Said 60% of renters stopped paying rent and are getting free utilities care of fauxvid. You cannot evict them and can only hope to unload the property on somone else with tenants included . The 100%+ price increases in the last 2 years are unsustainable and collapse is a distinct possibility.

When that executive order gets signed, banning firearms related imports, in line with the UN small arms proliferation policies, it is just going to get worse. No Russian ammo and probably no Serbian PRVI and likely they will find ways to ban or tax thru the roof other ammo like Fiocchi, Aguila, PMC etc. It is doubtful that the U.S. ammo producers will fight to stop this and they are among the largest supporters of gun rights organizations.

Not to mention there are initiatives in m any state legislatures nationwide to ban lead projectile ammunition entirely.

It’s gonna get a lot worse before it gets better. Maybe it will be a wake up call for about 80 million people (if you believe 80 million people voted that way....I don’t)?

I priced out material for a new deck last spring. Was gonna be around $1800. Decided to put it in the back burner till this summer.

As of last week that same material list was gonna cost me about $3200. Well shoot.

I’ve been trying to put some money together for a Kibler kit.

I think I may just go ahead and order one while they’re still “cheap”. It would not surprise me to see them go up 20-40% in the near future following raw material costs.

Today the internet sales tax kicks in. This catches us in the process of liquidating my late friends estate for his family. It may really affect selling off his huge collection of MLs and unmentionable items. Will watch for a while but considering shutting down sales (especially ammo) and buying it all myself. It is clear tangible goods will continue to be worth more than the dollars today.

We live on large sand deposits here next to ocean. May buy several thousand 5 gallon buckets to fill and sell to folks who want the convenience of sticking their heads in the sand in the comfort of their living rooms.

Our deck stairs were getting really bad and my intention was to replace them mysef' and save a bunch of money. Checked and a DIY price of $1,200. Two years ago my back blew out and after surgery I spent most of year re-habing. A year later the stairs were so bad that I wouldn't let anyone walk on them. Last spring, called the local deck guy and asked for a bid. He bid a little less that $2,000 but it would be late summer before he could get it done. My dear little wife was less than pleased but gave the go ahead. Got to the end of last summer and he deck guy shows up with new pricing of $3,000 and maybe couldn't get the material. Wife was truly not happy! Went ahead. Deck guy calls and said that the materials I wanted were a no-go. Not available anywhere at any price.... But, he knew a guy at the lumber yard who said that there was some materials coming in for another deck that wouldn't be built for a month or two and we could get enough of that to make the stairs and he would re-order for the other guy...but I had to give him the order right NOW! I felt like I was involved in some kind of drug deal or mafia shake-down.

Long story over, I got my $1,200 steps for the bargain price of $4,200. Wife is still grumpy.

EVERYTHING is going up in price, if you can find it get it, for there will be nothing in the future if this downward spiral continues. Seems we are on the road too third world economics, want a example study a bit on Cuba.

Sent this to a friend just now:

"My issue with $$ is that I roughly calculated the current inflation rate on durable goods as 26% right now. Local bank is offering 0.02 % on savings!! Hello Weimar republic!! ( where they got paid everyday at lunch cause prices went up at dinner, Also said to be the root cause of WW2.)

Good and scary read: Hyperinflation in the Weimar Republic - Wikipedia"

Got nailed for $11/ft for concrete walks. 2 years ago it was $4/ft.

Two years ago, 1/2" osb was about $7-8 a sheet - now is is $30 !!!
Sorry as of last week it was $42 at big box in Eugene and $48 in town!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Try finding a 4x8 sheet of 1/4 pegboard, We are so screwed.

Just talked to younger daughter, who works for a contractor. They are bidding a job and the cost of studs was $9.84...last week they were $8.00+/-. Last year they were $1.85....

Went thru Coos Bay yesterday and the normal mountains of lumber logs on the loading dock were GONE!. Not a single log to be seen on any of the ship loading areas.. The huge sawdust piles are still there but were being loaded on a ship. Also the construction of the big bayside mall appears to have come to a halt . Is this is the lefts political/economic warfare on us?
