Protect your ears. You only are issued two of them, and you need them both. Like your eyes, when they are gone, you don't get another pair.

Well said.
Our younger members should read these posts and learn.

Muffs or plugs at the range. I also have some high frequency loss from 8 years of jet engines and 25 years of fire/ems sirens.

On the way to the grocery store two days ago, I stopped at a light and a guy next to me was playing some rap so high that I could actually see his rear window flexing! Wish I had my muffs with me!

Wearing hearing protection is kind of like that saying, "you can pay me now or you can pay me later"! Believe you me the cost later is alot more expensive, and the damage permanet!
I grew up in the age when know one was using hearing protection doing construction. Years of working around skilsaws, routers, tablesaws, and thos lovely Ramset guns for shooting plates too concrete totaly ruined my hearin. I know pay for it everday and I will never get my hearing back.
I won't where the plugs or muffs while hunting, although I have considered something like The Game Ear, it's suppose to inhance the hearing while protecting the ears from loud noises. Any time I shoot at targets or just playing around I do. I am trying to save what little hearing I have left.

Foam earplugs for range and on the job. None while hunting.

I wear foam ear plugs when target shooting and nothing when hunting. If other shooters are blasting with with center fire rifles, I will add my ear muffs. They are just too hot to use in this 103 degree Texas heat.

When I was in my late teens & early twenties, I worked in a stamping shop operating punch presses & used to shoot without hearing protection. My ears ring most of the time, but I don't think that I have any real hearing loss. I just wish that people would stop mumbling all the time & learn to speak clearly! :shocked2:
My wife thinks that I am hard of hearing because I do my best to ignore her jabbering when I'm trying to watch the tv or do some reading. :rotf:
The only time that I shoot without hearing protection any more is when hunting. A couple years ago I shot a deer with my .30-06 and was shocked at how long my ears rang afterwards. I have thought about getting a pair of those Game Ears for the protection & to maybe be able to hear things in the woods better. :hmm:
