I am new to the Muzzleloading Forum. I inherited an 1810 Springfield model 1795 from my father that has been in the family for many years, supposedly used in the War of 1812 by one of my relatives that lived in New Jersey. During the summer of 2010 after having the rifle checked out, I shot the rifle for the first time in many years. Now I am hooked on Flintlocks and black powder guns. I have been trying to track down information relating to the War of 1812 to see who from my family fought in that war. It was an honor to shoot this historic firearm.
