Welcome from Stanly County, NC. Wilmington's a pretty cool town, especially for history. I spent some time out there last year for a grad school program.
Since you're into cannons, you should check out the Moores Creek reenactment just outside of Wilmington next month. Look for Kingsbury's Artillery and tell them A.J. sent you.

Good morning. I'm Kevin in NC, currently living in Wilmington but that may change. I'm retired and have been interested in shooting and collecting for decades. Lately my interests are trending to the older stuff. I have several original flint and percussion guns with another flint on the way. I even have a couple of golf ball caliber cannons, with plans to build a 3/4 scale Coehorn mortar. I'm a self-taught machinist so I like to do my own gunsmithing/mold making when I can. Hopefully I can learn some things and share some info on this forum. I'm also active on the British Militaria Forum as KevininNC.
