Originally from Northeast PA and was a big muzzleloading fan, hunter, and competitor at cowboy action, woodswalks and novelty shoots at a number of clubs. Looking to continue the hobby out here on the west coast.

Steve,
I'm from Groveland up by Yosemite. Where do you do most of your shooting? We have a Rendezvous in Chinese Camp in April of every year. Put on by the Sonora Smokepolers. Don't know of any others as yet.

Thanks everyone... Mike C. I have not done any shooting since I moved out here. Still trying to find my way around. Just secured some BP as I had to leave all of my stuff back in PA as I could not ship it. Friends got a several pounds of free BP. Appreciate the call out and would like to find places to shoot.

Welcome Steve. Lots of good people and good info here.

Where abouts in the state are you, generally (north, central, south, or ???)? With a bit more info I am sure there are folks fairly close about who could help point you in the right direction.

steve,

sorry this is so late, but i don't get here every day.

try Diablo Buckskinners / bill miller for a "bay area" club.. there are none in san francisco itself that i know of even though i've been trying to start one for several years.. maybe we should make it happen ???

anyway, the Bucks are already established and shoot monthly at united sportsman in concord.. check it out.

~daniel~

ps. for places to shoot, go to these outdoor ranges: united sportsman, concord; richmond range, richmond; San Leandro Rifle & Pistol Range, san leandro.

:hatsoff: Howdy and welcome to the forum.Where were you from in the Northeast Pa?I miight know some of the clubs you shot at?Griz

GW,

Been a while but I used to shoot at Factoryville Sportsman Club (USPSA and Muzzleloading Shoots), and there was a club that was in the Wayne County area that was built for rondevouse and Cowboy Action shoots that I can't recall but I do have a picture of me in the Cowboy Cronicle with a bunch of the guys/gals at the shoot. Had to be back in 94 - 95. I lived in Mt. Pocono for 24 years. Spent a lot of time in the State Game Lands.

Steve

A bit late, but welcome. Richmond Rod and Gun Club is north of you. There are monthly scheduled black powder shoots there. And there is also the Chabot Gun Club in the Oakland hills, in Castro Valley. That would be closer to you.:hatsoff:

Thanks Double Duece....looking forward to getting some shooting in this winter. I have other hobbies in the warm weather (fly fishing and motocross). As I get older the fly fishing and muzzleloading shooting and hunting is starting to look real good. You don't bounce as well at 54+ as you did ten years ago. LOL

Might be a little far to go but Santa Cruz Muzzleloaders are very nice folks and if you are in the area Sac Valley Muzzleloaders is where I shoot and Mt Ranch Muzzleloader has a shoot in Oct 5,6 and 7 at Railroad Flat, Ca. Oh, and welcome to the Forum and California.
