Just keep in mind Duelist and I modified our builds, him more so than me but you don't have to. The most work involved will be rasping/filing and sanding the stock plus filing and sanding the brass ramrod pipes. The potentially most difficult will be fitting the sights, I found a triangular needle file was indispensable in this. Otherwise everything is fitted, all the holes drilled and the kit comes pre-assembled (except for the sights). Take it apart then go to work on it.
I kept this picture in front of me every time I worked on mine.

What grade sand paper did you begin and end with? What color stain did you use?

With the sandpaper I started with 60 grit and ended with either 420 or 600 grit, I don't remember. The stain was Minwax Red Mahogany then I finished it with 3 or 4 coats of Tung Oil. The brass was all finished with 1000 grit the steel with 420 grit (finish with 240 grit if you plan on browning the barrel). For the barrel I cut wood plugs for the touch hole and muzzle then soaked the barrel in distilled white vinegar for about a half an hour to remove the temporary blueing then rinsed in warm water. Draw filed it first with a ******* file, then a finish file then the sandpaper.
