Hello,
I’m brand new so please forgive me if I’m posting in the wrong forum.
I have what appears to be a Connecticut Valley Arms black powder flintlock rifle that .54 caliber. I’m hoping someone can give me a good idea of what, if anything it’s worth.
the wood/stock seems to be in very good condition. The iron has some slight pitting & a little bit of rust. Overall it seems to be in pretty good condition. I think it just needs a good cleaning & some TLC.
I would appreciate any info & if someone could give me an idea of what it might be worth. 😊

Not worth a dime. Since yer new here though, as a welcome, I will give you $100.00!

Really though being a low serial # Mountain rifle in .54 its likely worth MUCH more than my low ball offer (which stands). Can yo drop a bobber fishing light down the muzzle and take bore pic. bore condition will make or break value. If the bores OK it would be worth probably $300.00ish, more if cleaned up (I like the old look myself). Those rifles can be absolute tack drivers!

Where ya get it?

Welcome too BTW!

I inherited it from my father who passed away in 2008. I’m pretty sure he got it from my uncle (dads sisters husband) who I believe used to use it when he would go out on reenactment weekends in New Mexico.

Personally not into reenactment, but doubt this gun was used for reenactment. Still a nice gun, and worth some coin if bore is in good shape.

This is the best I could do with my cphine & a flashlight. 🙁

I would keep it since was yer pops but that bore would not scare me, looks like your Dad took good care. My guess if you sold (here anyway) is the $300.00 already offered up to maybe $425.00? It is a percussion lock not flintlock (uses small caps to ignite the powder). If it were flint add $100.00 easily. I have my pops .58 he took a buffalo with, will have it the rest of my life!

Thank's for checking in here, You've found the right place.
CVA Mountain Rifle, Percussion, but because it's a .54, it's a "Big Bore" lending a bit more value.
Your photo's are good enough to show us the primary condition.
Seeing those, aka; as seen. I agree with azmntman, $400-425. Keep in mind that a buyer would be willing to pay shipping costs that would require reasonable packaging with Insurance with common carriers at a rate of another $35-50, (that doesn't make it worth 475)
It was your fathers,, so "heirloom" too you of course,, and that can be priceless.
That rifle is out of production, yet still saute after by many that would put it to use,, an easy market.
Good luck with your choices. You won't retire early,, but don't be cheated if you decide to sell
Those of us that still enjoy this hobby certainly would be interested in keeping the rifle in good functioning condition.
Again, Good luck.

p.s., your right,, it needs some TLC,,

Shannack.....my apologies if you took my first post wrong, I was just chastised by a guy (in another thread?) who felt my humor was in bad taste. He only cut and paste line one though not the part where I told ya it was worth way more. Had I stopped at 1st line I would have been a "Will Smith" HA! Anyway Its was in jest (line one).

Per above though consider following the footsteps of yer uncle and pop, you may really like it! Its addictive.

Also, did anything come with the rifle? Shooting bag, powder horn, accessories? Those things will help if you decide to shoot it. If you did not receive anything with it, don't let that discourage you.
