Hepl please, I need help finding long range rod?

I know some people don't like them, but I can't figure out why. (Besides apparently machine gun rods are now the cat's ass of muzzleloading accessories)
I use 2 delrin ram/cleaning rods as range rods and cleaning rods for my smoothbores. One is cut to length to fit the gun's thimbles for days with a lot of shooting but I want to do everything like I would in the field.

Now, I am told these are not available from this same source, but, a fellow member sent me this message after I posted something about these a while back,

I would also note that they are/were available in metric diameter that fits the thimbles of Pedersoli rifles. We used one as a replacement when a friend's Pedersoli rod broke.

I should mention that the female threaded hole takes standard 8/32 accessories, no need to order special "muzzleloader" stuff.

I've been using these for many years with ZERO issues.

I've been using these for many years with ZERO issues.

I have one of these rods. Bought it at Cabelas years ago. I installed a small wooden handle on the blank end to help seating balls. It's my go to ramrod for my two .54 caliber rifles, and my son's. 50 cal. I have a .50 cal jag on it. I also use it to load my first shot at the truck when I go on deer hunts. I broke a wooden ramrod on the deer opener a couple years ago so now the delrin rod goes in the truck whenever I go hunting.

I ordered one of these for a 45 cal that is 48 inches long. Figured 48 inch rod was good- wrong ! It is 48 inches including the handle. No problem, added an extra long jag to fix it.
Also have one in 50 caliber to use for a 42 inch barrel

I use 3/8 aluminum rod, way easier to drill and tap. I also use a golf ball for a handle, it is surprisingly comfortable to use (great for file handles too). I don't need a muzzle protector because the aluminum is much softer than any barrel steel and for anyone who says that the soft metals get stuff lodged in them and that scratches the bore... Keep your rod off the ground and wipe it off periodically! They are super cheap and easy to make. I have one for my enfield, one for my medium length rifles and one for my pistols.

Muzzleloader builders supply has a good range of lengths and sizes of SS rods and muzzle protectors.

I extend mine with an old shotgun cleaning rod segment.

A local steel supply house sells me 3/16" x 48" steel rod for under $2. Salvage store has all kinds of metal drawer pulls for $2 each. Muzzleloader supply houses sell adapters for the business end of the steel rod. Using this approach , a very good range rod for less than $10. The brushes , and the rest of the tools are extra.

I get 48" hickory from Track ofthe Wolf but leave them home for cleaning rods. Shooting and hunting I use the rod that hangs in the thimbles. Hickory as well, tapered preferred.
