I had my first experience with BP a couple of weeks ago and I think I might be hooked.

I started shooting when I was 12 (Daisy air rifle), went through the hunting stage (.22, 16g, 12g, 30.06, 7mm mag) and did 21+ years in the army (M16, M1911A1, M9). Didn't have much time after I got out.

I'm thinking about picking up a Remington Army or Ruger Old Army to get my feet wet. Looking for a place to gain some knowledge.

Hi Mike, and welcome! Thanks for your years of service. You have come to the right place for any knowledge you may be seeking.

Thanks and loving it here.

Now if I can find some real BP instead of Pyrodex....

Welcome from another Virginia newbie in the Richmond region. A longtime shooter but decided to try muzzleloaders for a while. I have a TC Hawken Hunter in 50 cal and would like to add a small caliber rifle to go with it, just for fun.

Clark Bros has it usually, though it's a retail price. The Bass up in Annapolis has it, but that's retail plus mall price. The best bet is if you can make an appointment out at Back Creek Gun Shop in Winchester, VA. It's a haul, but their prices are the best I've found in the area.
