Like Bigfoot , I found at a flea mkt. , the entire set of those Dr. things they use to look into human orifices. They're all different sizes , 'bout 12 or 15 , and most can be used for funnels.

I used the tip that was left in the making of a powder horn to make a funnel. Its small tip was excellent for filing my horns and most flasks. I have the brass funnel that is threaded to fit my flasks.

The button in the base of the horn unscrews and the brass funnel fits there. Filling the horns and flasks is pretty easy.

I like that. thanks for the post.

I used the 223 case on the tin lid idea for years then the plastic bottles came along with different lids , so I pour the powder into an old tin using a plastic funnel from a set of 3 I got from the supermarket and use that with the 223 spout . Then put the excess powder back into its original container .

My small funnel was not small enough for some of my priming horns, so I liberated a couple of those black plastic things the my doctor uses to look in my ears and nose. My funnel fits them, and they fit my horn opening. Voila!

I did the same thing years ago. Use the ear cone that hooks on the magnified light. Small enough to fit in my bag and use the regular spout nozzle on my can

I wouldn't be surprised if we were to learn that the old timers bored a hole in the back of there horns to facilitate filling them? When using a threaded plug no one could tell it was ever plugged. It is hard for me to believe they would be filling there horns through the small spout hole?

I do not have any experience with using horns. I have collected a couple and viewed a few at shows, etc.
I think almost every one had the plug (large) end permanently attached. Some even with brads.
Fill them through the pour spout with a tiny funnel?!?!?
I use a little funnel, or I have made pour spouts for various powder cans using cut off cartridges pushed through holes drilled in the lids. One for each type of can. Push the tapered shell through from the inside; makes a tight fit.

With the cost of, and scarcity of, powder, I do it a lot more carefully than in the past.

It’s interesting to watch muzzleloading videos from a few years ago and watch people overfilling their powder measure and just brushing it off on the ground or blowing it away. I bet they are not doing that today…😎 I tried to save every extra grain when I went out this past weekend.

Gary I do the same with the horns I make, the only difference is my base "plug" is brass.

I use my unmentionable reloading powder funnel, fits on any size spout.
