Didn't they make a decal of several guns on a rack just for the rear window? Or am I remembering something that wasn't there? I guess for those who couldn't afford the real thing.
Yeah, I remember them. Probably not a good idea in some states today. Get you a hot stop for sure back east

This is rural and the club range is less than 10 miles. So into the back of the Subaru with blanket for padding. Or into the Tundra crew cab same way.
That said, I would not leave the vehicle unlocked if I stopped for a coffee enroute. As a percentage of population we have as many junkies and thieves as you will find in a city.

“Piece-keepers” in my decked bed system. (Not my actual stuff)

I have been wondering about carrying wrapped in a blanket in PVC pipe.. Have to leave the buttstock and maybe more exposed. That and bungee the PVC to something secure. A bit more protection for a short ride than just a blanket.

In my old age I traded my truck for a much more comfortable SUV. $40,000 but real comfy with AWD so I can go where the truck went. Longrifle rides between the seats longways. She likes it there inside a blanket case.

I'm just going to go ahead and ask what may be a dumb question to some of you? How do you transport your longrifle in a vehicle - specifically for me a Toyota Tacoma? I have a 45 caliber poor boy style rifle that I would probably shoot more but honestly it's a pain in the arse to transport. it has a 42" barrel.

I don't have a hard case long enough so I can't put it in the bed of the pickup. I have a gun sock, but that's not the issue. It's too long to fit across the back seat of the truck. If I try to put it muzzle down in the front passenger seat it rides at an odd angle - plust it is then inconvenient if someone needs to ride with me. If I try "standing" it in the back seat one end is wedged under the seat and the other bumps the rear glass so I have to wrap that end in an old towel. This always seem like a good way to get the gun banged up.

My Hawken, English sporter, and Jaeger all fit in a conventional gun case and can be transported as easily as any other modern firearm. So you guys with these gorgeous Kiblers and such with 42" - 44" barrels - how do you haul them around without dinging them all up?

Your only choice is to cut two inches off the barrel or get a longer vehicle

Sometimes my buddies and I take several guns to shoots. I have found that this wll now just live in my truck bed. I covered the wood with old t-shirts out of my rag bin. Customize to what ever size you choose.
