Average is hard to say. I don't shoot near as much as I used to. But when the boys are home we shoot trap which really goes through the powder in a hurry. So I'll say two to three lbs with the rifle and twice that for the shotguns IF the boys come home and the weather is good. :hmm:

I use to shoot a lot more than I am currently able to do. I'd say 10 pounds or less a few years ago and maybe 3 to 5 pounds nowadays. But most of my shooting is with small calibers so a pound goes a long way.

My practice for years was to buy myself a case of GOEX as a Christmas present each year. I didn't buy a case in 2015 because I still had half of the 2014 case left. I guess life got in the way of shooting last year, or maybe it was the weather. :idunno:

There very well could be a lot of truth in that. Tip Curtis has a pretty impressive target hanging in his shop that he shot with a smooth rifle I believe. A ragged one hole group from his .45. I think he told me that was a National Record target. He also told me he used to shoot 3 cases of BP a year back then! That's a bunch of smoke!! I don't compete now myself and shoot maybe 3-5 lbs a year. Greg. :)

Used to be a lot more but now 10+ lbs a year. Trying to increase use this year. The .40 doesn't use a lot.
