I’m at a loss

So, I got this traditions deer hunter as a project from my father. Dad had an optic and had it drilled and tapped. No big deal. I took the scope and rings off. What I can’t figure out is how to change it back to a normal nipple. He had a mag spark and I’m not a fan of those anyway. Not that I have anything against them, just not my style. Anyway, how in the heck do I change it back? Here are a few pics after I got the mag spark nipple or topper off. Do I try to take the drum off? Like I said ya can’t beat basically free. And it’s a muzzy, so I’ll take those all day any day. Plus, I have a soft spot for something that came from my dad. Any help would be appreciated.

The Mag Spark screws out and you screw in a new nipple, you will have to figure out what size threads are in the drum.

Yep. That's what I noticed too.

Soak it in a penetrating oil (kroil) for a day, grab the mag spark with a needle nose vice grip. You'll probably mess it up gripping it like that but if you're not keeping it...that's what I would try.

Can also try filing 2 flats on it and try a spanner, but could be kinda thin for much filing.

Or hack saw through the middle to create a slot and a big screwdriver.

have you checked to see if it is loaded?? soak it and find an ez out that fits . try to use it in the larger part ,not the flash channel.

It’s not loaded. That’s the first thing I always check.

It’s the pic and angle. I vaguely remember using this when I was younger. Well, dad used it more than me. I think back in the day when Tennessee introduced a Blackpowder season. I do think Dad built this from a kit but had a smith drill and tap it for him. That’s been many years ago.

Those holes should get filled with the correct size screws.

I think the threads should be 6-1mm for the nipple.

I bought a TC with a Mag Spark type primer adapter and found it was removable by a hex (Allen) wrench inserted down through the nipple.

For the holes, take one of the screws that you removed and go to your local hardware store. To my knowledge they all have a screw thread sizing template to find the right size thread you need. Most local hardware stores carry a selection of gunsmithing screws. I’m not sure about the big box stores. I had bought a barrel with the same problem. My local Ace Hardware store had what I needed. I bought several different lengths to make sure I got the correct one. If nothing else, by using the screw thread template you will at least know what size thread you will need.
