Or wrap the rod in tape in a few places. Dont know why I thought this was a copper bullet or I would of told you to do what ya did, Im getting to old for this I guess. Try something other than one of those kind of rifles you may just have a good time with it Rob. Fred :hatsoff:

Thanks for all the encouragement. I actually have a flintlock kit that I hope to build someday when I have a bit more time and I also have a cap and ball Walker Revolver that's much fun to shoot. I also recntly bough at auction a very nice English 28 bore single barreled percussion cap shotgun. It's at the engravers having a new hammer screw made. I'm sure I'll be back here for help with that.

BTW to further clarify, the bullets are copper and that's why the traditional puller wouldn't work. I noticed that in my post about solving the problem I wrote "that was enough to pull the lead bullet out of the sabot."

That's "lead" (leed) as in "first in line", not of lead (led) composition.

Glad that you have resolved the problem. Welcome to the world of Muzzleloading. There are two types of Muzzleloading shooters, them that have made mistakes and them that will.
Good Luck and keep shooting.

If you had the breechplug out all you had to do was heat the barrel between the sabots - just watch where you point BOTH ends. ha :rotf:
