I like the looks of a darker curly maple stock with a patina/aged "white" barrel but the lighter reds with browned/blued barrels.

I think 7 and 3 allow the stripes to pop out at you the most. But then again my 4 hour canoe trip in the Missouri Ozarks today made me weary and bleary eyed. All your wood samples are very nice :imo:

I'm partial to 8 and 4. Number 8 looks like the finish on my GPR "Lucifer", which is just Birchwood Casey's Tru-Oil, no stain.

Hmmmm, without rolling the wood in my hands I have a hard time between 8,5 and 6.
