I have no political stuff to say, seems to get me in trouble no matter that I am right and my views should be "THE" views. That said here in Flagstaff, a very outdoor shooting sports area, we have absolutely no CF ammo available. Maybe 2-4 boxes per store of some obscure caliber. You will not find 30-06, 30-30. 300 win etc. Zero pistol ammo. No where. Just like .22 few years ago.

Hope it dont last. I am gonna grab a few pound's of smokeless and some more BP (ca this still be ordered online?) soon and get stored up. I have little cf ammo for my weapons, didn't see it coming and it hit suddenly and hard and here anyways everywhere.

My liberal genius son, his genius wife (speaks 5 languages) an genius granddaughter always thought I was a backwoods redneck of little consequence. That is until they lived almost in the epicenter of the early rioting in Seattle a number of years ago. I asked if he wanted me to send him the shotgun I bought him when he was 12 because of the turmoil, up to that point his wife abhorred guns in the house, his answer was yes.

As things got worse I asked him what he would do if the unrest spread and shut down the country, he thought for a minute and said " I am coming to live with you dad, you know how to survive". That is when I became a man he respected for who I am, our relationship became rock solid as it had been before he became enamored with the fast life of high paying jobs and a jet setter lifestyle.

The last time they were here his wife pitched a fit when I asked my granddaughter if she wanted to learn how to shoot a hand gun. They even turned their nose up on my stock of food (deer, squirrels, fish from the lake) and went to Publix to buy their own "organic" stuff to eat while they were staying in my house. Of course eating my fresh picked chanterelles from the woods was turned down emphatically by all of them.

Fast forward to today with covid crisis that has hit where they live in Austin very hard. Now they are looking forward to learning how to forage for wild food with me. My son even hinted he wanted to learn more about that black unmentionable I have with the 30rd mag.

Now I have my granddaughter shooting bows, my son usually grows a garden in the back yard of his ritzy neighborhood and his wife wants to pick wild plants to eat.

I think this same reality check has hit the overall population and is responsible for the empty gun and ammo shelves. The absurd calls to defund the police probably pays into this scenario as well.

My kid and his family may make it after all but they don't have any serious firepower, perhaps I can change that as well, I have a few spares I could give them.

Only 100 days till Armageddon! I better get my affairs in order. How exactly do you suppose the "Government" plans to confiscate hundreds of millions of firearms? If you know, please share that info, as I would like to know the best way to hide all mine. Thanks in advance. BTW, last time I checked the pres & vice-pres don't have the power to "ban" anything. Seems the other two branches of our government might have some input on that. Scare tactics & fear mongering are how lobbyists & special interest groups make their fortunes. Seems they have fertile fields from which to reap their rewards.

RBP.. I suppose were lucky this side of the Pond. We still have one or two high end rod makers here. I believe there is still a Silk fly line maker in France and another in Italy. We have a good hook maker or two. I begin to think I'm lucky. I haven't been into a Salmon or Barble recently big enough to damage a Hardy Cane or B&W Hexograph .. Just a comment. Hope I'm not too far off topic??

Looks to me like your son married the wrong woman. Continue to do your best for him and the kids, but I fear that the lady is a lost cause.

A friend of mine, a Boer farmer in Natal, once gave me this advice - 'Wanneer die tyd kom om jou wapens te begrawe, dan is dit regtig die tyd om hulle op te grawe.'

'When it's time to bury your weapons, then it's really time to be digging them up'.

Hmmmm. Stockpiles of food, guns, ammo ... what happens when the water shuts off? Minimum gallon a day per person for how long? It's the little things.

First will come "voluntary" surrender of guns, then record checks to see who might have certain firearms , then will come door knocking , kicking. If local law enforcement refuse , special agents will be employed. Been watching the process in other countries thanks to the vigilance of the NRA , since the kennedy years. Have noticed over the years , libs say...".They won't do that." Take note....The will do what they want......The wolf is at our doors. Buy some RIG , make a plan ............

RIG?

RIG is the most recognized rust preventative for steel in storage. Those who might have to store some steel items , might want to order some RIG before even that gets scarce .

Hawkeye, you have it all wrong they will research who has what send you a registered letter and give you a dead line to turn them in ,if you do not comply they will fine you on a escalating scale for a time, if you do not comply they will freeze all your bank accounts and stop things like social security deposits, retirement deposits, etc.. Seize your property that sort of thing. If you still do not comply then comes the boys in black vans armed to the hilt. A actual event that happened a few years ago a Lt. I worked with was involved in a situation at work that led to federal criminal charges (he beat the accusations eventually) any how one morning three black vans rolled in his driveway and the boys surrounded his home a knock on the door and a face full of weapons. and some handcuffs next they laid out paper work that covered every weapon he owned or purchased during his life time (now think about this the guy was about 50 years old used weapons since he was about 10, bought ,traded, gave away to family members that sort of thing) after much discussion they took every gun in the house even muzzle loaders, he ask if he could take the scopes and accessories off the ones so equipped and place the guns in cases NO was the answer. They then threw them in the back of one of the vans like cord wood. He eventually got them back after much court time and a bunch of lawyers fees. I spent three days in federal court as a character witness in Baltimore Md. Do not think it cannot happen the plans as I said earlier is all ready and waiting. And bye the way he was a federal and state mandated firearms instructor, state authorized, trained tactical squad leader lots of certifications, with around twenty years of service to the state at that time. So yes it can happen.

I wish people would realize that discussing shortages on social media both creates and exacerbates the problem.

Marsh Hawk, water should be the least thing to be concerned about, electric, heating oil, gasoline for your car restrictions on mileage where you can and cannot go that sort of thing, is where the concerns are. Research the green new deal bull s**t Think about how folks done 100 years ago, wells springs, out houses, candles for light, gardens and hunting and foraging, gardens and bartering. Look back at history not long ago the ration books during WWII. The depression of the 30s if this happens will be a cake walk, the big cities will be first to collapse it is all ready starting.

Carbon 6, discussions has nothing to do with shortages, thoughts and discussions develop a mind set that enables others to view the situations and how to deal with them, As the saying goes LEAD,FOLOW OR GET THE HELL OUT OF THE WAY.

How is it working out in Australia and NZ? Much smaller scale for sure, but these two are good examples of how well this type of law will work.
