I have screwed up on one of my in lays around the lock area(small gap) :curse:.Can any one tell me if I can repair this and how?

You don't mention the type of inlay or it's shape. If the inlay is metal and has a curve wher the "gap" is, ya might try "peen'n it" to enlarge it slightly to fill the gap (however this doesn't work well on a straight edge). You will have to file and polish the inlay before final installation to remove the liddle dings from be'n peen'd.

I'm sure you will git good/better advice from others on this forum!!

I'd use Acraglas from Brownells. Use the brown dye (included) and stain the stock dark. The repair will be invisable. You could use regular epoxy and the dye, sold seperately. Don't forget to oil the inlay with either method, or you'll glue it in for keeps.

I use a pushrod to more or less massage the wood over into the gap. Just rub hard, the wood will move. :: Some use a piece of bone. I burnish the whole stock this way after staining. :winking:

Select another inlay that's just slightly larger than the existing one and inlay it.
If your not recreating a specific gun, this option can end up looking as good as the original idea, and sometimes even better.

Perhaps this idea isn't for you, but I've found that keeping an open mind and being willing to change has given me freedom to fix little goof ups like this and absolutly no one except me will ever know. :)
