I bought a hawkens made by investarms. its an older gun and i got it cheep so ill mess with it some..MY QUESTION can somebody tell me a little something about investarms..Are they a gun builder or are they a middle man...thanks

Investarms is the builder. They make rifles and pistols for Lyman and Cabela's. They make good firearms.

All the Lyman Great Plains Rifles are nothing but an Investarm.
Both, the Hawkens and the GPR are sold on our side of the big pond under the brand-name of the builder itself: Investarms.

Hello from Germany!

The correct name is Investarm S.P.A. they are located at the Lake Garda in nothern Italy. They are producing guns like the GPR, Traderifle, Cabelas Hawken, Trapper pistol. It is one of the leading firms in Europe beside Pedersoli and Ardesa (Traditions). Their masterpiece is the GPR, but the other rifles have similar barrels, only shorter.

I have had 3 Investarms Hawkens.One was the sporterized carbine,which I traded off after about
maybe 40/50 rounds.It was a .54 and the best 3shot
group I ever got at 50yards,from a bench was 8".
Not good.The other two are great shooters at
3" + or-. I am a hunter not a serious paper
shooter.So all I can say is 3" groups work for
me.

Romeoh and Kirrmeister tells it all before and i will don`t make a confusion but if you are able to get a MAVI Hawken you get the best choise for this kind of rifles.
Mavi was the first production name for Investarms Hawkens and produced the same "look a like" than today but with a bit more precison in building.In the `80th Gunsmiths like Helmuth Mohr and the " Flintknapper" sells this Rifles with a special tuning for serious targetshooters here in Germany.
I have some old Magazines and will take a pic out to show it here next time.

Investarms not only make the Lymans and Cabela's Hawkens, but they also make the Dixie Hawkens from Dixie Gun Works. They make great products for the price :thumbsup:

25 years ago, I bought a 54 cal Investarms Hawkens kit. $35.00 I think. The barrel was a second. One of the rifling grooves was not cut. I never finished it, but fitted a fancy target barrel for it. I won several matches with the target barrel and then forgot the target barrel when I traveled to a match. Out of Necessity, I shot that defective barrel, and still won 25 yd offhand matches. It shoot s nice tight groups at 25 & 50 yards. As far as the mechanical works, I think it is slightly superior to a TC.

Hi,

after some research i could`t found some representive topics about the Mavi Hawken but some about the Hege Uberti Hawken!

in March 1981 shortly after Hege Uberti introduce their new Top Model into the European Market the DWJ ( Deutsches Waffen Journal = German Weapon Journal) print a report about the new famous Hawken in their Journal. Among other things like the 1 to 1 authenticity nearly to the original Hawken Rifles a test was done by Helmuth Mohr/ Mayen a skilled Blackpowder Shooter and Gunsmith.
Helmuth tested all new BP Rifles at this time, Tryon, Wesson e.g.he tuned them a little bit and shows the results.
i will pic here two photocopys from the DWJ
hope that is is not to bad to realize it.
the first ist the report and the seond pic ist the promotion page .
Due to the text information about the test of shooting" Helmuth filed of 0.08 inch from the frontsight and drove it a bit to the right.
Point of aim at the 6 on six o`clock.
Charge:70grs. Dynamite Nobel Nr 1
Roundball: 0.520
Patch: Ox Yoke 0.20 inch

I picked up an Investarms Hawken in the same way as the original poster,and am having a hard time finding what size nipple it takes. Is it6x.75,or 6mmx1?

Good Morning,

finaly i found another page of promotion a DWJ from December 1982 . Here offers Helmuth Mohr some
BP Rifles for the serious Targetshooter as very nice looking Christmas Gift..... :grin:

on the left side there where offer Parker Hale Enfields , Hege Ubertis , Tryons, Thompson Centers and last but not least the Mavi Investarms Hawkens below
