Is this an authentic 1860 Colt?

I am NO expert, that said I'm more than familiar enough with real Colts, Italian imports, and the Ruger. I STRONGLY suspect that the revolver in the OP's post is an Italian that has been defarbed and aged to create a fake.

Not only the line on the barrel, but the shape of the hammer looks nothing like an original Colt.

Exactly! To my eye it looks like a Pietta hammer spur.

Like finding a carefully preserved, fully engraved, original factory 4.5” barrel and half fluted cylinder 1860 Army tucked away in a false ceiling of the house you just bought to remodel. With a letter signed by Sam’l Colt. And 5 boxes of original cartridges. With all the accessories. In a presentation case.

Someone did fairly recently find an original Walker wrapped in a rag in their attic. I can't remember if it was buried in family stuff they threw up there or it came with the house. Apparently it was taken by a Mexican soldier and ended up somehow in an attic 180 years later

If I found a Walker wrapped in a rag I'd immediately assume it was an old well-used ASM or something. No one expects to find that plus 99.9% of people don't even know what they'd be looking at other than an "old weird gun" so who knows how many old pieces really are found stashed in old houses and discarded or sold for cheap . Like the gun writer who was finding Confederate revolvers at garage sales in the 1970's for next to nothing because people thought they were beat up repros found in someone's stuff after a family member passed.
