The tire-filling end on a car wash compressor won't work.

You sure about that? You wouldn't even have to remove the nipple? :hmm:

Never tried it myself, it just seems like it would work, it would probably bugger up your nipple though...

Pretty sure. Almost positive but I have never tried it.

I was a mechanic for over 25 years and have a LOT of experience with valve stems and hose ends.

If you had a special nipple with a valve stem on the top it would work great! There is no way I can see that you would get any sort of a seal on a regular nipple or be able to get any appreciable amount of air to flow into the nipple to begin with.

A tire-filling air chuck just isn't built that way. There is a metal nub in the center that pushes down on the valve stem's core while at the same time being pushed back into the chuck. This opens the air flow in both. Meanwhile there is a rubber seat in the chuck that seals against the threaded lip of the valve stem to keep pressure in.

The flash hole in a nipple is smaller than the check valve stud inside the tire chuck and there is no place for the rubber seat to seal against. If you tried to use a tire air chuck you would blow air out of the hose but it wouldn't pressurize the bore.

If you were to hold a rubber valve stem tightly over your nipple and then use the tire chuck on the valve stem it MIGHT work.

You don't have the components to shoot it or shoot the Jag out. It's not hurting anything don't worry about it. :) When your caps come in just shoot it out and go on. :)

I got it out, woke up went to a a spot where you can air up tires. the problem at first was i couldnt get a good seal and was blowing air around the nipple. i sealed it the best i could with my fingers gave it one last go pressed down and squeezed around the nipple to seal off the escaping air as much as possible i heard a bloop and it came out. i just finished cleaning the barrel of the factory greeze gonna put a little anti sieze on the nipple and put it up. I want to thank everyone for all the suggestions. lessons learned after looking at the range rod i bought and my jag, the jag doesnt fit right so that range rod is getting stuck in the corner, it said 10-32 threads andthats what my ram rod and my other accesories are.

You can try to shoot it out after getting some powder through the flash hole.

You can try to use a compressed air blast.

My first choice would be the CO2 ball discharger - I bought one of them years ago - they work great and are hassle free (for me anyhow). I always carry it in my shooting bag as well as at least one spare CO2 cartridge. Works for removing a dry-ball, a stuck jag or just to make certain you have a clear flash channel. Point in a safe direction, squeeze the discharger trigger and, presto, problem solved - at least until you do it again !!!

Dixie has this one http://dixiegunworks.com/default.php?cPath=22_99_322 ,but they are available elsewhere . . .

Glad you got it out!

From my years as a mechanic, I was siding with Jethro224 in that you wouldn't get a seal and/or trigger (for the air chuck).

i was beginning to wonder myself. ive got strong hands luckily i have some meat on them because at first i wasnt getting anywhere i new i had to have a better seal. I am going to buy a c02 ball discharger. It was a huge lesson to learn. from the get go i knew something didnt feel right about the rod and jag connection but i let excitement get the best of me. Huge lesson learned. im so thankful for this forumn as it gave me lots of ideas and no one beat me up for making that mistake. im glad to be a part of this foumn

CO 2 dischargers are nice if they work. My nephew bought one at the Log Cabin three years ago and we could never get it to seal good enough to work. I was at a shoot last Sunday where they needed to use one, ours would not seal as usual. But the Club's did work. When I got home I made up my mind to fix or destroy ours. I disassembled it by removing the tiny roll pin and decided the O-ring was not sealing properly so I wrapped the male part O-ring and all with three layers of stretched teflon pipe tape and reassembled it.I tried it with a tight leather wad rammed down the barrel. Now it works! :idunno: :idunno:

Huh...I wonder where he could have gotten the inspiration for that idea? :hmm:

You must have a bike pump intended for a kid's toy. I routinely pressure up my road bike with 100# and I've completely filled a slow leak on a pu truck dualie tire with my T pump.

You don't ride the Tour de France on 40 psi.

Ive got 3 mountain bikes and a road bike and i also run 100 psi on the road, on the single tracks i ride with the mountain bikes ill run 35 lbs in the front and 40 in the rear if i was under 200 lbs id lower the pressure on the mountain bikes.
