January 19 is National Tin Can Day!

Another well known holiday is January 19 - National Tin Can Day.

The usual three categories: rifle, smoothbore, (smoothbore must not be equipped with rear sight - front sight/bead only) or handgun

Two ways to shoot: Offhand from 25 yards with rifle or smoothbore or 15 yards with handgun.
Bench rest/supported from 25 yards with rifle or smoothbore or 15 yards with handgun

Mark the box on your targets as either rifle or smoothbore or handgun and either offhand or benchrest/supported.

Instructions for new participants - download the pdf file at the bottom of this post and print it full size. Post your target by taking a picture of it with the information filled in and scored by you and post it back to this thread.

6 shots for score - 3 on each can
10 pts for Bullseye & 5 pts for any other hit on can - ONLY 3 shots count on each can - max score 60 (ball must be 1/2 way inside the scoring area to count)

Shoot as many times as you wish but please only post one target per category with pictures of target (and gear, if possible - we love to see everyone's equipment and load data!) Post jpg or pdf formats. Please score your own targets and write your score on the target along with information on the load you used and other info including rifle/pistol or smoothbore, bench or supported. If you do not check the boxes I won't know where to post your scores. I will check scores and it helps me if you will draw a line to each hole in the target and write your points for each shot - makes it easier for me to check the targets.

Prize is same as always - bragging rights on the forum!

I will be posting December results later this week.

Have fun and have a Happy New Year!

Gary

Perfect! First patent awarded on the tin can was in 1810, same year as my rifle was modeled after.

Looking forward to it!

best i could do. shot with my ugly Hawkin. It's not nice enough to be a Hawken.
Like some homely women i have known, it's performance out shines its looks. the fly in the ointment is a sick old man trying to shoot. been in bed all last week and finally got my bones out to shoot on the last day. Happy New Year to all! may it live up to its promise.
I score this at 20. tough target this time for me.

National Tin Can Day? Oh, to have a place to shoot where I could just pitch out a few tin cans and blaze away! I've got the rifle, the pistol, and plenty of ammo, just no place to shoot where I can use improvised or non-paper targets.

I stumbled into a solution to the problem of needing a brighter bullseye for my old eyes.
I swiped a 1 gallon baggy from the kitchen, stapled it with the opening to one side and slide the target into it. keeps the target from getting soggy in the snow and I can stick a red stickem bullseye over the black one! will shoot it later today.

When it's snowing in Georgia we don't go anywhere!

Agreed, December is usually snow here. Our deer season is short just 2 weeks after 4 weeks of rifle. Lots of time spent enjoying the snow because the deer are pressured to heaven high water and starting to yard up. Wish we had more snow this year
There's nothing better than flintlock hunting in the snow!
