I am not knocking ANY OTHER Uberti channels of distribution when I say this ...and I am sure there are other Uberti distributors ..BUT

My first buy ..by accident was a Taylors distributed Uberti ...and It had a minor problem found in the first range session ..I called Taylors and NOT the mail order gun shop I bought it from ..

Taylors maintains on duty competent gunsmiths who when I explained the problem (yes an actual human to speak to) Knew instantly the problem/solution ..instant issue of a return shipping label occured and it went out the day of the conversation ..they turned around the corrected firearm in 2 days ..

I have bought Taylors issued Ubertis ever since ..I would not buy any mechanical thing that did not have parts and service as part of the deal

I am not boohooing anybody or their choice of brand or where they buy it! ..I just got lucky my first purchase was a Taylor/Uberti because I did not know (being new to BP revolvers) that these critters are not always as sound as the guns of old

But what I am trying to say is a Taylors shooter is a skoch higher than some other ways to buy (but not by much) ..but there is definitely parts, knowledge and support free of charge to their customers with guns under warranty wheather you bought it directly from them or one of their dealers

Also ..may I suggest you have your model and serial number ready should you have a reason/need to call them because the drift of the conversation was one of dedicated service either free under warranty or a cost of labor/parts out of warranty ..but it maybe they will only work on guns they have distributed That WAS NOT specifically stated but it was my take from the conversation ..so make your own case.

Also ..they sell more brands than Uberti ..such as Pietta.. but I cannot tell you about any but Uberti

This info a 50 cents may not buy you a cup of coffee ..offer void in some areas

I've been waiting on a pair of Uberti 1860 Armies that I had planned to use for CAS shooting, on Backorder, for almost a year now and also a .38 Special Uberti 1851 Conversion , for over a year from my local gun shop. The boat is not coming anytime soon apparently
Check with Dixie Gun Works

My first BP revolver a few years ago was an Uberti 1861 that I purchased from DGW. It misfired at least half the time. As my first BP revolver I thought that maybe I was doing something wrong. I knew nothing about BP firearms but I finally figured out the hammer wasn’t falling all the way. It looked to me like the arc on the hammer was landing on the frame without allowing the hammer to strike the cap. I finally called DGW and spoke to their gunsmith (whose name I’ve now lost). He knew exactly what was wrong and the repair was made quickly.

I have since purchased a number of used Ubertis, dating from the 1960s to 2020, and only one other, an 1862 pocket navy only two years old, had any issues besides the notorious short arbor. The arbor was also bent and the forcing cone was not square, a bit like Cynthia described. I called DGW but they don’t have time to take on repairs of guns they don’t sell. After mulling it over and being short on cash, I decided to try and fix it myself. It wasn’t too difficult and the results are satisfactory.

STILL, I agree with y’all that no one should have to buy new products with the many issues reported here.

When I was looking for a second 1849 to put together a two-gun cased set I almost ordered one from Midway as well. Instead I found a much better deal on a perfect, new, unfired Uberti 1849 at a nearby gun show. Sometimes I am on the receiving end of good muzzleloading karma. Sometimes.

Good luck Cynthia! I truly hope you can get that gun shooting correctly. As someone else said, these are a lot of fun to shoot.

If still interested I just purchased the 1851 conversion cylinder from midway the Howell version does not matter they are all quality cylinders Howell and Taylor. No issues mine has the scene engraved

I have had the same experience buying directly from Taylors you get better guns and world class service!

All if Uberti's older craftsman died during the pandemic. Cimmerron has 20,000 guns on backorder. Get used to things never going back to the way they were.

Well well well.....
Turns out Midway will take it back.
They sent me some legalese to attempt to cork me off. I responded that legalese on a web site is scant protection from a law suit over selling an unsafe firearm.

They called me in 15 minutes of sending that email with detailed instructions of how they wanted it sent back to them.
I even am giving them a chance to send a different pistol. I don't want my money, or a sorry, I want a functional pistol.

I didn't want to go to ***** mode, but that is what it is there for.

At this point I have to say screw MidwayUSA

As per their email to me they do not have anyone on staff charged with inspection of firearms they receive from the vendors. I feel that this is a terrible shirking of responsibility. They can afford to have an on staff gunsmith to go through received firearms to check for blatant defects.
That should be a basic thing to do.

What was supposed to be a fun day was ruined.
I guess ol' Larry is too busy making You Tube videos to do customer svc. I don't buy perc. guns from anyone who doesn't allow returns for defects.

go get em! it seems that no matter what is involved today the standard response from any service is a cold shoulder!
glad you are getting it resolved. by the way Cynthialee do you have a Tc hawken flintlock and a Tc new Englander ?
I do not have a Flintlock TC Hawken, I do have a percussion version.
I had a New Englander a number of years back, but the gun and me didn't agree with each other. So I sold it off at a profit. :)

I rarely get anything from Midway. I did business with them as a gun sales/repairs store for several years. Then they sent me the wrong files! I needed some screw slot files, one makes the slot deeper, the other, matching, squares the edges of the slot. This particular shotgun, a double 10-bore, percussion, was made in 1849 by a well known maker, but I had one bunged up screw. Turned it on the lathe no problem, but suctom guns such as this one have very thing turn-screw slots. Midway sent me a set that was two sizes too bigger than what I had ordered. And the files are NOT cheap! Three months went by, waiting for replacement, and authorization to return the pair I had. Midway told me that they could not switch them out.
Now the only time I would order from them would be if I could not find the part or tool anywhere else. I always wonder if ol' Larry Potterfield still runs the business, because it sure is not like it was 10 years ago, when a simple phone call would provide a satisfactory resolution.

Silver swap ring any bells? bet it was you.
YES!!!

I traded you in an Idaho parking lot for I think it was 3 rifles for some of my silver eagles. That worked out real well for me. I kept the CVA Mountain Stalker, and sold off the other two at a profit. Then I got a used wood Pioneer rifle stock to replace the composite stock. (Which I had painted Barbie pink and carried like that for about 3 years as a hunting rifle.) I still have the pink stock set back if I ever go shooting in public lands. I like to stand out like a sore thumb when others are shooting. A Barbie Pink rifle helps in that department in spades. :)

fantastic! glad it worked for you! still have the silver and it just sits there! may have to trade it off for something that shoots! don't think i had retired when we met. didn't have the time for BP then. now all i have is time!!
i knew there was a third rifle in that bunch, just couldn't think of it. Barbie pink! my wife would love that!!
