Johnny, if them over powder cards are tight you might break your rammer.
Just stamp thin cards.

Cut the fibre wads in half. Make them go twice as far!

Yep thank god for Messrs Henry Krank, got a few bits and bobs en-route including an aluminium loading rod and cleaning kit (read load pulling worm and nick knacks) full speed through the post office.
Was going to keep the original bit of stick in place for decoration

Just need it to dry up a bit here, my shooting/ hunting permissions are underwater at the moment and wellington boots are not going to cut it!!

Hiya bud, I have got a 3/4 punch and was rummaging through the rubbish looking for suitable material to make holes in when the memory bank kicked in and lo buried in the garage was a whole sack of loading components from yesteryear when I used to reload 12 bore cartridges.
Loads of thick powder cards and felt wads in all lengths, and as Brit above says I'll cut those down to suit

I did thumb in a couple of the powder cards about half an inch below the muzzles and then capped up and popped a couple.

Good to see those cards positively fly out and whack the wall so good to know the nipples are open and fire finding its way inside

What is there to debate? Just throw the over powder cards away.

I split the over powder cards use half over the powder half over the shot. I have used this for several smooth bores over the years and it always works for me

Just had another squint at mine and apart from all the other proof and ident marks there is a boxed AD stamp, am I right in deciphering year of manf as 1991??

Looks to have lead a charmed life, barrels are shiny from base plugs to muzzle. Chromed??

Barrel wedge needs a positive tap to shift it and the locks although not corroded in any way were drier than the moon and squeaky.

Given them a blast of Napier gun cleaner to wash out any dust and possible firing residues and a squirt of Browning gun lube.

Left to drain overnight on a paper towel and blown them out with the air line to chase any excess away, cocks nicely and quietly now after its treat

Reconsider using that stuff, it reacts badly to black powder residue! It will NOT protect anything.
Get some beeswax, or coconut fat and gently melt it. Once melted add some olive and allow to cool. Adjust the mix to your satisfactory consistency.
That WILL protect the gun.

The barrels are chrome plated for corrosion resistance, not to facilitate the use of steel shot.

Arrived today hotfoot from Henry Kranks fine emporium of all things muzzle loading here in the UK

Nice steel loading/ cleaning set with a natty pouch to keep everything together

Nice muzzle filling rammer head to prevent cards flipping over on their journey down the pipe
