Well I called a gentleman about a T/C Hawken that was listed in the paper. He still has it so I am going to go take a look at it tomorrow. He says it is in Excellent shape and has never been fired. We shall see what happens with this one. By the way it is 100 cash. Im gonna try to shoot him an offer on it at first see if I can get it cheaper.

Today I cut down the barrel on my CVA Kentucky Rifle. I have it hacked down to about 9 1/2 inches or so and recrowned it and got it all cleaned up. I just have to cut the dovetails for the rear sight and the pin to hold it to the stock. I also cut down the stock to more of a pistol looking thing and am busting buns to get the old finish off of it. This is my first attempt at any major rework of any firearm but it seems to be going smoothly so far.

As soon as the wife gets back with the camera I will snap some photos of the project underway and hopefully share pics of a new to me T/C Hawken.
Wish me luck guys, Jeremiah.

If it were me, and in my area, I would have a crisp C note and hand it to him and not bother with a lesser offer! That is a give away price IF its what he says it is!

It's your gun but may I ask WHY? :v

The gun was 20 dollars and a good excuse to see if I can attempt any kind of real gunsmith work. It is proving to be difficult with the inlay stuff I am doing now. Also the front section of the stock was cracked and I just didnt feel like waiting to find the correct stock for the gun. I will also have a very unique pistol when I am finished with it. On top of that I have a wife that doesnt let me spend too much money so a kit pistol or a preassembled one is out of the question.

On a side note I just got back from picking up the T/C Hawken. She is a beaut. I ended up paying full price ($100) and I am glad I did. Included was the original manual. I am kind of hesitant to give this one to my Father for Christmas but that was my intentions in the first place. Pics soon once the wife gets back with the camera.

Ah, give it too'm,, usually kids or grandkids inheret guns anyways
can't go wrong on a T/C for 100 if it ain't a kit gun it,,heck even fit it is the lock and trigger are covered under a lifetime warrenty.
Kit gun's serial # begin with a K,,and they have a K stamped into the barrel channel and lock mortice.

Well it deffinately is not a kit gun. I knew I heard about the K in the serial number just wasnt sure. There is no K and the barrel is stamped M on the bottom of it. I already got her all cleaned up and even etched a Old English S on the Patch box lid. S is our last initial. Other than that she is ready to go. Wife should be here tomorrow so I will post pics in the picture section of all my smoke poles.
