What's the going price for one of Ken's rifles? The reason I ask is I came across one of his weapons on consignment for sale in a store. The gentleman who owned it passed away and his wife is asking $5000 for it. Weapon is in outstanding shape.

I have the rifle(or its copy) that Hardscrabble posted in my safe. I bought it at the Knoxville show from a man who is near Sevierville, TN. $5000 sounds high. Any pictures?

Just my opinion. Looking at the picture I wouldn't pay more than $3000 at the very most. Aftermarket rifle. The lock has been modified with the flashguard. ( Possible reenactor use.) Bore condition?? No brass patchbox.

I have done Rev War reenacting as at that time period most patch boxes were wood which is to my liking. I'm the one that added the flash guard as required for reenacting. This is a custom rifle and not a kit. But hey, if you want to be insulting as I was just trying to help you then go spend your 5 grand, I really don't care.

Sorry. I thought that was the rifle in question. I was just valuing the rifle against the $5000 price. Feel free to be offended, but like you I really don't care.

Hi Folks,

Thanks for the kind words and sorry for the late reply! I am still building rifles and fowlers. About 50/50 now doing custom work and spec work. Clay Smith is kind enough to host
my guns on his website when I have one available for sale.

I'm still teaching 3rd grade too! That's been a ride the last couple of years, as you can imagine.

If it is OK to post it, here is the link to my pathetic blog. I really need to update it with some recent stuff.

Here are some pics of a gun I built recently for a friend. It is a Jim Chambers Marshall.

Thanks again!
Ken,

Thanks for jumping in and showing your work, which is outstanding. You deserve to be better known!

I agree with everything @Dale Lilly has written on this thread. The rifles are beautiful, but those third graders need you! I want to watch @hanshi milk that moose, too.

Ahem! You may not realize it but I'm a "moose whisperer".

Anyone have an idea what I should pay for the K L Moors, 50cal, rifled barrel weapon pictured above? It's on consignment for the client who's husband passed away. She is asking $5000.

I paid $3000 for the used, but in great shape, rifle I posted. Clay Smith usually sells Mr. Moors rifles new for between $3500 and $4500 including his consignment markup. A wild guess on my part would be $3500-$4000. I like the well-done Moravian Oerter gryphon carving. Since the store has marked up the seller's price, there is wiggle room on the price. Offer $3250 and go to whatever your top price is.

Sounds good. Wish me luck.
