Kilt a spike this mornin'. 80 yds. That was easy. Drug him uphill 200 yds. That was hard. Had fresh tenderloin fer breakfast though  fried in olive oil spray. Still got one firearm tag left for this weekend and 2 ML tags for next week's ML only season. Well, back to the woods fer me... Good luck fellow hunters :hatsoff:

Congrats! :hatsoff:

If it was easy, you guys musta not got the blizzard that came thru up here this morning. It was plum nasty out! I looked outside and decided the deer were safe from me. 12+ inches of snow and 30mph wind. Any deer with half his wits was hunkered in for the day.

Storm broke this afternoon tho so I went out this evening. :youcrazy: Didn't see a thing.

Good luck fillin' the rest of them tags!

Way to go :hatsoff:
IM heading back out in the A.M. The 30-40 acres IM hunting has had 2 deer taken on it so far and there spooked bad.
IM hoping this weekend some other hunters on joining farms will be shooting running them back to me.

No, 80 yards isn't bad. Whatcha shootin'? Whut's the load? Earned your breakfast this mornin', ya did. Congrats. :hatsoff:

Sorry for the question, but what kind of animal is a spike? didn't find it in my dictionary.

A spike is a deer buck (or elk) that has antlers that are not forked. Guess you could say it only has the main beam with no tines.

Hope that helps. Maybe someone could post a pic of a spike. Pics are a lot better than my definition.

Oh now I know! In GE we would say "Spießer",sounds similar to the american word. These are normally young bucks or very old bucks which have already reduced their antlers.

Congrats Gametracker. I don't think my old stomach could handle fried meat for breakast anymore, but, for lunch it sure does sound good.

Good definition
in many parts of the south (southern US Kirr) the term spike is reserved for short antlers of this variety (no set definition of short) and the longer ones are referred to as cowhorns as in "I done kilt me a cowhorn buck" :rotf: we talk funny here, or so I've been told
bramble
