Then don't continue scaring members here by extolling the dangerers of "lead"!

Its inhaling lead fumes that is the most obvious source of contamination. Most adults are not going to eat lead paint, or lead oxides, nor suck on lead balls, no matter what Fess Parker did in the Davy Crockett movies.

More importantly, the lead does not go to and remain in the brain, any more than any other organ in the body, AND, MOST IMPORTANT, the kidneys are designed to remove heavy metal from the blood stream, and do a very good job of it in adults. :hmm: :hatsoff:

In giving common sense cautionary advise to people who want to cast their own lead balls, and bullets, there is nothing to be gained by giving Ammunition to the anti-gun folks, who use lead poisoning as a means to destroy our rights to own and use guns.

The fact that they got a partial ban in California is Not an indication that they will also win such legislation in other jurisdictions. At least, it may not happen if we stop helping them, by suggesting it is a real health concern to our members, and readers. Comments like yours tend to neutralize the common sense of shooters, who may not have the time, nor inclination to study the subject themselves, and learn the truth. Most of this country knows that the Granola State does not represent the common sense of the rest of our 49 states.

I'm not trying to scare anyone, nor advocate any lifestyle changes or promote broad-ranging legislation. Having suffered firsthand the machinations of the IFAW and the WWF for the last 15 years, I know better than most what you're worried about.

But breathing lead smoke is dangerous. Lead shot in your meat isn't. If you're going to handle anything with the potential to harm you or your children, you should know how to mitigate the danger.

Anyone who can't handle this basic responsibility, or the fact that risk exists in life, is too busy working in politics to take up shooting, anyway.
