I have a Lee Production Pot IV and it is rusting.
Is there anything I can do to 1) Thoroughly clean off the rust inside the pot and 2) Prevent it from rusting in the furure ::

Thanks,

Huntin

If you heat something to the temp that is required to melt lead then rust is inevitable.

You do not want to put any product that would inhibit rust on the pot or you will probably contaminate your pour.

My production pot is 30 years old. It was totally rusted 28 years ago. It still melts lead, which is it's intended purpose, not decoration of the shop. It's ugly, I keep it on a shelf under the workbench.

Even after it rusts, for 30+ years, it will still work and you will still consider it one of your best investments

I keep mine full of lead and don't have'a problem with rust.

What he said. I keep about 5 lbs in mine to harden and prevent the valve and stem from rusting. I hit it with WD-40 occasionally to chase any moisture out (When it is COOL!). It has some rust, but any loose rust floats. I scrape it well with a stainless steel spoon every melt and it works just fine.
