lead yellow color

I have lead from old telephone connections. I have removed all of the tin connecting the ends and seams. When I heat it to pour round balls the hot lead has a yellow tint. Can anyone explain this. Thanks Ike

You will never be able to find 100% pure lead. When melted impurities float to the top. Skim them off and proceed casting. Don't worry about it.

Pure lead will give a gold to purple color tone, especially if the temperature got to hot in the lead pot during smelting.
