Please note the edit of my original note: my mold is the 440 grain. (typo from fat fingers.)

SDS: I would love to have a dozen bullets from your 350 mold! I can trade you off some pure lead or silver money!

I'd definitely be keen but I am guessing you're in America?

The 350gn ones sound interesting too !

Ok, offered to send you some 350 gr REAL bullets, but now that I see you are in Australia, probably not practical from North Carolina USA. You may want to update your forum profile to let us know you are in Australia.

Wish you luck on your quest with the 440 gr Lee REAL bullets.
Sorry I thought I'd responded to ADK bigfoot

No problem. We have that pesky International Date Line and the Northern/Southern Hemisphere thing to contend with, so any miscommunication stumbles are understandable. Personally, find it confusing at times to communicate with the bride, and we live in the same house.

And for what it is worth, the offer of some 350 gr REALs stands, but postage will pretty much make it a silly deal.

Never had a ‘fat fingers’ problem here…. Yep, again I’ll refer to the bride for opinions about my typing skills.

You did have me wondering if there was a 550 gr REAL offered in the past, I do after all have a 350 gr mold no longer offered…. so why not.

And for what it is worth, sent a PM.

I shot Lee r.e.a.l.s and TC maxi-balls almost exclusively in my 54cal Lyman Great Plains with its 1 in 66 twist barrel and both were as if not more accurate as roundball at 75 yds with 2 inch groups being the average with fairly regular clover-leaf groups. Unfortunately never got to try them on deer.

Experience here. I have settled on Maxis as my projectile of choice. All my rifles are 1:48 and shoot them very well. I got a GPR (1:66) and couldn't get my Maxis to group to my standards. Another lucky RB shooter now owns that great rifle.
maxi's dont even shoot in my 1x48 58 cal hawken but the REAL bullets shot very good. so easy to load no going insane over patch lube and thickness or using a ball starter

That's why it's said that each rifle has a load that works best for that particular barrel. Don't know until you experiment.

Gday all. I'm looking for info regarding shooting the 440gn 58 cal Lee REAL conical in a CVA Rocky Mountain Big Bore or similar twist rifle.
No,I'm not looking for opinions or suggestions to just stick with round ball. I already use round ball.
Thank you
This is not an opinion or a suggestion...

The heavier the bullet for a caliber the longer it must be......the longer a bullet is the faster the twist must be to stabilize it. Just trying to help.

I've got the 45 cal 200 mold. On average it drops 'em around 197g. I've got two 45 cal rifles. A cobbled together thing I bought on the cheap with a 1:66 twist G.R. Douglas barrel, and a much nicer Tennessee Mountain Rifle (maker unknown) 1:72 twist that I bought here on the site. While my groups were comparable to roundball loads for both, the TMR was keyholing at 50 yards. The lock on the Douglas gun broke (AGAIN!) so I haven't been able to try it at any longer ranges.

That 200gr .45 calibre bullet is a short stubby little thing, and it shoots great out of both my RB barreled .45 rifles. The 250gr .45 calibre bullet doesn’t perform well in either rifle, but I have a little Hawken styled gun, with a 1:48 twist that shoots the 250’s very accurately, with authority.

If Lee made a .58 calibre REAL bullet that was proportionally lighter, making it a shorter stubbier projectile; it would most likely shoot fine in a .58 calibre rifle with a RB barrel…

Read his posts. he shoots rb and wants to try the Lee's. Grow up and stop the insults since u do not want to read his responses.
I read all that. he is the one insulting people. I gotta grow up but not you who made a snark remark when I said get the mold and try it yourself. you respond he is in australia. what does that have to do with him getting the mould?

The fact the mould is at least twice as expensive here and not readily available numb nuts. I'm guessing you are also poor in reading comprehension?

What does it have to do with the mold? Really? Check shipping and import laws for the aussies. Then if do not like it ship it back at who's cost? Read initial post. He wants real life experience with them. Man I love the ignore button.

but why ask about the performance of it when it costs to much and you cant get it? it is only $35 here so if it is double there it is not really that much
