I'm sure this must have come up before, so bear with me if it bores you to tears.

Can anybody recommend a book that goes into the life of Lewis Wetzel?

The Nov.-Dec. 1994 issue of Muzzleloader magazine has an article on Wetzel by Curt Schmidt. Among his sources he lists _Lewis Wetzel, Indian Fighter_ by C.B. Allman, New York: Devin-Adair, 1939. Can't recommend it because I haven't read it.

I just ordered this book from Amazon...."Life and Adventures of Lewis Wetzel"
Cecil B. Hartley
I have not received it yet though.

Lewis Wetzel, Indian Fighter_ by C.B. Allman,
I just read this book and you will not be able to put it down so make sure you have time to read it.

I live in the area of his fighting grounds. Wheeling WV.

I believe there is a book "Ohio's Dark Hero" about Lewis Wetzel. A side note there is a rock in the woods behind the Mail Pouch barn in barkcamp state park that says Lewis Wetzel killed three indians on this site.

A correction to my previos post, Dark Hero of Ohio was not a book, more of a short story of the life of Lewis Wetzel.

That Dark and Bloody River by Allan Eckert has quite a lot about Lewis and his whole family... I highly suggest that book. I've read it twice and enjoyed it very much both times.

Everything by Eckart is good. Even though it is listed as 'historical fiction' it is written with as much actual facts as possible.
AND the parts he put in are very logical and well thought out as to what may really have happened without actually being there.
Good stuff.

The footnotes in the back of those books have some good info/clarifications.

Try Bookfinder.com. They usually have good buys on out-of-print books, I don't know about these specific volumes. God Bless, Good smoke, Ron in FL
