Here's one you don't see every day. Some might call it a chunk gun as it meets the tradition of a southern style rifle with a long heavy straight barrel. It weighs about 8 1/2 lbs. It certainly is a target rifle as it has a Lyman adjustable peep rear sight and globe front with changeable inserts. I ordered a full set of inserts that will be included. The rifle was built by Dave Motto in West Virginia. I have no idea how old it is but it is in very good shape with a few minor dings. It's also accurate. More accurate than my old eyes will take advantage of. Yesterday I was experimenting with loads and the rifle consistently put .310 balls into one ragged hole from the bench @ 25 yds. I also had very fast ignition with zero misfires. Barrel is a GETZ, length 42", 3/4" across the flats, twist 1:48". LOP: 14" to front trigger. LOA: 58". Lock has DM (Dave Motto?) stamped inside. Only other mark is a "L" on the tumbler which probably means LEFT. As noted, lock works very well. Stock is beautiful tiger stripped maple. Furniture is iron. Ramrod has a splinter missing from rear end. I have a new hickory replacement to be included. MYSTERY SCREW: there is a dome headed screw on the right-upper barrel flat. I have no idea what its for. Part of a different sight mounting? A way to get powder behind a dry-ball? I tried to remove it and discovered it really likes being where it is. Next step would be to apply heat or, as someone on the forum suggested, file it off flat. I decided to leave it. It doesn't hurt anything and it sure is a conversation starter. PRICE: $1,200 shipped and insured in the CONUS. Will be shipped in a wooden crate. TRADES: I'm always open to interesting trades. Nowadays a trip to the range is the high point of my week and having a new gun to try out is icing on the cake. Flintlocks only. Being a lefty I do have one other rule. Right- handed locks are fine but the presence of a right-handed cheek rest is a deal breaker. Call me picky but that rest on the wrong side screams "Not my gun". Anybody got a Jaeger?
