Looking for photo examples of carving on top of stock and below tang

I’m new to carving and would like some examples of carving specifically below tang . It’s hard to get specific photos of this area and would like something that looks good and isn’t too intimidating to do

Go to the Kentucky Rifle Foundation website. They have thumb drives with excellent photos. Pick the school you're interested in and order up what you want. Won't find much better photos in my opinion.

I have both of Shumways books, as well as Billl Iveys and Peter Alexander's, along with others...

What time period and style rifle are you making, that makes a difference as well..

Carving is dependent on the era, locale, and builder. Need a little more info on what you’re building, to give a proper answer.

Flintandsteel is on point. I’d advise against carving for the sake of carving without a lot of study of regional styles and lots of practice.
