You meant to say your wife is actually really, really, really smart. Right?

Russ
Nope, I pretty much meant old

Ive used pine sol and water for the flush after shooting and it cleans the fouling out good.Dry patched and sloberd it with sum clp an never any trace of rust.
Ive hunted skwerls in september when it was fairly warm an humid with the pinesol mix.
I have always had a sneaken suspection that amomia may be in the pine sol.Could this be the smell in the Lehigh valley lube?
I aint never had a chance to see any of the lehigh valley lube,or use it.My 36 loves the 10 to 1 mix of olive oil with the pine sol.The 54 aint pickey,it will shoot decent with about any moose milk i put downer.

Thanks bucknife.....
I see nothing in there that says it would hurt anything. Alcohol, I already use and it's harmless, the surfactant is nothing more that a detergent, and I already use dish deteregent....so why not give it a try?
I noticed a couple of fellows have indicated they already use it with good results but I have to wonder if they are using it as a patchin lube, or a cleaner.
Lehigh can be used as both, so why not "Darylsol"...that sounds pretty good...if it's lacking a name.

Russ pine sol is a good cleaner but it has a smell that is strong. The base lube is the most important thing.
Make up a couple of small quanitys of moose milk lubes using olive oil an pine sol in one an caster oil and pinsol in the other.10 to 1 ratioal is a good starting point.
You can always add more base lube or alkey.Any ways shakem up good and stick your finger in both milks at the same time, rub it between your finger and thumb till it starts to dry.you will feel that the caster brew will leave a sumwhat sticky residue, thats the lube while olive oil will remain a lot less and more smooth.after this run your fingers under cold water, the olive oil an pine sol will rinse clean, the caster oil and pine sol will still have a residue left behind.Thats the stuff that can effect accuracy after repeated shots and will be harder to remove from the bore.
Thats my scientific aproach, olive oil is a good base lube but dont mix well unless you shaker up good.
As much money ive spent on pine sol, murphys, olive oil and caster oil and witch hazel i could have bought a whole case of lehigh valley lube, but that woulnt be much fun ::

bucknife seez...."As much money ive spent on pine sol, murphys, olive oil and caster oil and witch hazel i could have bought a whole case of lehigh valley lube, but that wouln't be much fun"

And ol' Russ seez....Yep! If it ain't fun, it ain't worth messin with. Just go buy whatever trips your trigger, and forget about this other nonsense!
"Spearmintin" is at least half of muzzleloading anyways, whether it be bullet, powder, patch, or lube. :imo:

:Trouble is, I've two bottles of LeHigh right now for shooting, and the temp has dropped to where it's too cold for this child to shoot. I have to keep my back warm and -12 is too cold for me - hate getting old, let alone cold. We used to go out down to -25 without even thinking of it much. Not any more!
: We've flown radio control at -22 in a blizzard & a battery re-charge was only good for 1 flight as the coldness strips the batteries that fast. Anything more than -5 and no one shows up anymore and that's about the limit for shooting as well- for me.
