Thanks I searched for Investarm and did not find them. I own the
Hawken Carbine from Kit. Light and fast--accurate shooter.
JUST CHECKED MID-SOUTH, those are Pedersoli from my
take/ they say Lyman. I have not found the Investarms for two years,
since before Covid.. I searched for Investarm(s) Nothing. They are
a great manufacturer- if they are in business.
Who is KIT ?

Possibly then they still make for Lyman--that would be fine--but now Lyman
is touting Pedersoli. Investarm and Pedersoli might have a manufacturing or
export relationship as i have noticed them mentioned together on import
manifests when i dealt with them, a few years back. Notice that Cabelas had
Investarm and for the same guns now has Pedersoli--same with Lyman.
Does Investarm now belong to Pedersoli? As a price point sub brand? Posted this while Smokey Plainsman was posting--he answered it. Thanks.

Ok so what about the Invest Arms Gemmer Hawken rifle (Great Plains). I am assuming it is the Lyman GPR still being manufactured just under a slightly different name while Pedersoli make the Great Plains Signature series. Price is still around the same as when it was a Lyman GPR.

There are a couple of sales videos on youtube dated August 2021 . Has the 1-60twist........... Yeh its a GPR

I put together a kit earlier this year for a relative. I don’t know how long he had had it. I would not buy one unless it was a deal. The wood was pretty course and the tang was bent. Other than that it was not bad.

I have the Gemmer/Clemons GPR in .50. It was made by Investarm. I believe the Gemmer/Clemmons brand was specifically made for Muzzle-Loaders.com by Investarm. The flintlock has a coil spring. It’s a good rifle though and it looks like the Lyman.

Lyman has never made a rifle. Never. All old stock Lyman Great Plains are in fact Investarms Gemmer Hawkens with the Lyman name stamped on them. Lyman stopped having investarms produce for them and switched to Pedersoli. All new stock Lyman Great Plains rifles are Pedersoli Hawkens with a walnut stock stamped Lyman on them. Investarms are sold by muzzle-loaders.com. If you look up their Gemmer Hawken look closely at the pictures. Zoom in and you can see Lyman Great Plains stamped on the barrel. Investarms locks are coil spring and the Pedersoli uses a regular flat mainspring. I’ve owned both models of the early and late Great Plains investarms/Pedersoli.

How was the quality on the late Investarms GPR ?

I mentioned in earlier post I had purchased one lot of locks around the late 90's. Gave 10 bucks apiece for them and used them all on the earlier Thompson center Hawkins and Lyman ( investarms), they needed extra polishing for a smooth release. Later on, some I have replaced the coil spring lock with flat spring locks after hogging some timber out. The group shot a lot of matches and was avid hunters. The coil spring **** just got sloppy. Through this forum I found that Investarms were thought to have built TC locks. Made sense to me for what I experienced before the days of internet availability.

Stocks had too much wood in places, inletting not perfect (sometimes) but they shoot like rifles three times the price. Nothing wrong with an investarms that a little sandpaper won’t fix. My investarms Great Plains will shoot circles around the Pedersoli one.

Ok good information , thanks . I bought my son a Lyman GPR , 54 cal.about three years ago and it shoots just as well as my custom rifles .

I will agree with TreeMan.. The wood is pretty proud around the metal and my lock needed a bit of inletting right under the tumbler… the hammer pivot would rub on the wood and made it difficult to catch the half **** notch. For those of you looking for an Investarms made GPR or GPH look up The Gun Works in Springfield Oregon

I got my Investarm Gemmer & Clemens GPR from muzzle-loaders.com. They gave me a coupon code. Less than $600.00. Sorry about the shiny stock, Florida humidity was having the original “oil finish” coming off in my hands. So a did a little true oil. Plus, GPR Lyman peep sight due to old eyes. After about 200 shots, consistent 2-3 inch groups at 50 yards.

What are the markings on the barrel ?

Ok thanks . So these barrells aren't marked with Lyman on them .
From looking at the pictures it seems these rifles have a better wood to metal fit .
