Nearly all (if not all) of them had tapered barrels which makes them handle much better.

I can testify to the effect of tapered barrels. I've got a GRRW Hawken with a 36" 58 cal barrel tapered from 1 1/8" to 1". Though the rifle weighs a whopping 12 pounds like many of the originals, it balances and points like a much lighter rifle.

I've got another 58 cal "Hawken" with a 26" barrel tapered from 1 1/8" to 15/16". Though it tips the scale at a little over 9 pounds, it handles like a quality shotgun with the COG right between your hands. I wouldn't hesitate to call it "whippy" for range use, but it mounts and points like my 5-pound 28 gauge double in the field, in spite of being almost twice as heavy.

People who have handled them have spoke of the contrast. I, too, have never held an original, so I honestly couldn't tell you the difference. Nice looking rifle!

Ok, I'm done being off on a tangent, didn't mean to get off topic :v
