lyman GPR

Can someone please help date a GPR. It has a browned finish. Primitive sights. The ram rod is custom brass rod that fits flush with end of the muzzle. It has very slow twist rate in the barrel. Just a guess but maybe 1 in 60 inches.

I got whole bunch of kool stuff. Wooden blocks with holes drilled in line. Few were loaded with patched balls. lots of balls,powder measure,few tins of white waxy stuff. patches. leather ball bag. primer loaders, etc. I got wooden box full of stuff!

This rifle came from a guy whos father in law who past way a year ago. He never shot it since the 90s. He only shoots modern in line type rifles.

Nice haul! I would assume the white waxy stuff is lube for patches. Im sorry I cant help identify your GPR but im pretty sure if you can post pics someone here can tell you aplenty. I have found the folks here to be a wellspring of knowledge on all things BP-related.

Any markings on the barrel? Do the markings indicate that the barrel was made in Italy?
Lyman barrels are usually blued. What you may have is a Lyman GPR kit rifle made in the 1980s.

We need pictures, especially pictures of the markings engraved on the barrel.

If your gun is a Lyman muzzleloader it would have been made in Italy.
It should have several proof marks stamped onto the barrel along with a square or rectangular box with some letters in it.
Those letters are a code that tells when the gun was proof tested.
