Would any one know the velocity of 75 grains of 2f Goex 50 cal? Out of the Lyman GPR, 32 inch barrel 1 in 60 inch twist, and how I can figure out its energy. I have this sighted in deadly at 50yards and want to know if it is adequate for whitetail deer??

More than enough. I only use 60 gr in my 54 and have never recovered a ball from the deer i shot. Don't worry, it will sledgehammer the deer.

I don't know the numbers to tell you but can tell you from experience that your load is more than adequate for a broadside shot thru the lungs on a whitetail at 100+ yards.

It will work just fine. If 70grs works in my .50 CVA with a 28" barrel, then you will have no problem with 75grs in your 32". I have since switched to using FFFg instead of FFg, but both have worked fine, it just seems my rifle likes the FFFg slightly better.

That's a sledgehammer load and will kill a deer with energy left over!!! Dont have 2 deer standing side by side, you may kill both of them. FRJ

I agree, and you're right, I have had pass throughs. I have since been working on switchin to all flint so the caplock CVA has not seen a hunt in some time. Mostly use GPR FLs for deer and such now, and the same 70 gr FFFg load works in the .50, but the .54 gets fed 80grs FFFg, with the same results, except more penetration. Either way, I have full confidence in 70grs pushing a .50 PRB for deer or any hog under 300lbs, and would probably take a shot with it at larger if I ever come across one bigger than that. Put it where it counts and you go home with meat.

Hi Hungry,
For a 177 gr, .490" PRB out of a 32" 1-60" .50 barrel, the current Lyman Black Powder Handbook & Loading Manual gives the following:

Charge: 70 Gr. Goex FFG
Muzzle Vel: 1627 fps
Muzzle Energy: 1041 foot lbs.
100 yd. Vel: 997 fps
100 yd. Energy: 390 foot lbs.
Pressure: 7800 PSI

Charge: 80 Gr. Goex FFG
Muzzle Vel: 1694 fps
Muzzle Energy: 1128 foot lbs.
100 yd. Vel: 1018 fps
100 yd. Energy: 407 foot lbs.
Pressure: 8500 PSI

Should work if your aim is good.
