I got to see the pics yesterday when we hooked up at the heritage fair.....
Folks, the saga of Scott's GPR just keeps getting better!
The barrel finish in relation to the stock came out great!
PC or not, whatever way this thead was/is going,
He has created a firearm that many would be proud to possess.
by the way, 200 years after L&C came out this way, a govt funded project mind you, NOBODY can for certain say, prove or disapprove exactly what model of firearms, as a whole,L&C brought with them. they/we can speculate and assume, but not for certain prove.

Nice pics Scott!

BTW Plink, made any progress on your project yet?

I'm getting there. I had been distracted by an overload of work recently. I'm starting to spend more time trying to complete some projects, as they're backing up on me. I have 6 gun related projects that had been sitting stalled, and I just got in 2 restorations today, so I'm gonna have to bust a gut now.

The GPR is pretty much ready for final metal and wood finishing. I had been holding off on the wood specifically because this one has bland figure and I wasn't sure what I wanted to do with it until I saw your pics and realized how perfect the oil paint filler was for my project. I'm ordering Jim Chambers finish in the morning, and I've already reconfigured my spare closet for rust browning.

Hopefully I'll be posting pics of a successful build soon. :)

Excellent! Let me know how the Jim Chambers finish is. I may order some and try it for my next project.

Gosh, Brett...
The pictures Brett is referring to are a couple quick ones I took yesterday morning inbetween rain showers, and just before we headed for the Heritage Fair. I would like to get a good series of pictures of the rifle at various angles to post here. I may try taking some pictures indoors, but if I can't get good quality pictures I'll have to do it outside. The weather forcast is looking stormy this next week. Typical Oregon November...

From the advice others here have given, it sounds like the perfect finish to me. If it works out well on the GPR, I have another Investarms Hawken that's been sitting on the shelf for a couple years. It'll be finished with it also. I'll let you know what I find as I go along. :)
