Lyman interchange with Investarms ?

Does anyone here know if the flint lock, and barrel from a Lyman Trade Rifle fit in an Investarms hawken stock ? Assuming so, would the Investarms double set trigger assembly function as a double set trigger with the Trade Rifle lock ? Would the Investarms trigger guard still work ? I'm speculating because I really like the patchbox on the Investarms Hawken stock. Thanks to anyone who answers, and The Muzzleloading Forum is the best. I've learned so much from all of your experiences.

The Lyman trade rifle is made by Investarms.

If the patch box is what you want, install one. You can buy them from Track of the Wolf and other suppliers.

I don't have the ability to do the inletting. And.........I was hoping for a set trigger.

I'm not new to BP, I've been a history re-enactor for about 20 years, portraying a mountain man of the 1830"s, and enjoy it and BP immensely. Even shot, tanned and sewed my own buckskins. But, I'm all thumbs when it comes to doing nice things to a rifle, I've tried inletting and ruined a couple of T/C practice stocks. I'm just curious and would buy an Investarms stock if it would interchange with the lock and trigger. To introduce myself, I am brand new to this forum and I've found a home !! I'm 78, live in Iowa now but traveled a lot of states including Alaska, hunted BP in a lot of states, took a bear and an Elk in Colorado with a T/C and GPR 50 caliber and PRB. I love buckskinning, BP and this forum. Thanks for accepting me.

I'm thinking it would probably work but there could be subtle differences that might make it more involved than a drop-in fit.

If you want the equivalent of Lyman Trade Rifle with the cap box and double set triggers, and you want to know 100% it'll work right, buy an Investarms Hawken from Dixie Gun Works.

Cabela's used to sell the same rifle as their "Traditional Hawken." I bought one several years ago because the Lyman Trade Rifle wasn't available in a left handed version. I've since added a sling, Lyman 57ML peep sight, and Lyman 37ML front sight.

Cabela's no longer lists it but DGW currently sells this rifle, btw. Mine is a caplock but DGW sells it with a flintlock, too.

I have read on other muzzleloading forums that it takes quiet a bit of work to put a set trigger into a non set trigger rifle. Some of the items mentioned were 1, you need a fly in your lock, 2, you need a different trigger guard, 3, you have to do a lot of inletting for both the trigger and the trigger guard. For some rifles, it would weaken the lock area and wasn't advisable.

First thing I did to mine was got some Tru oil and put a deep gloss on the stock. There was only a stain on the wood out of the box. Made it look incredible.

Not very PC (Period Correct) but I did just about the same on mine , opened up a bit on the touch hole Williams fibre optics "fire sights" and a sling , this is my prefered hunting gun for deer and caribou

I see you have the Lyman peep on your LH rifle. I have the exact rifle and LH. Did you have to modify anything to make it work?

The peep sight required no modification to fit my left handed rifle. It sits far enough back that it does not interfere with the hammer. Installation required me to drill and tap one hole in the tang.
