I think your confused about where I hunt. I'm in the Northwest corner of Michigan. You can't pay me enuff to get near Detroit, Ann Arbor, Lansing or any place else in Southern Michigan.! Only time I'm in Southern Michigan is when I'm driving out of Michigan....lol
Sp when you say "any legal firearm" do you mean any in general or any that Michigan has designated for the season in your area? IF I ever get to hunt again I'd really like to use something in a 30 cal. I have a 6.5 CM I named AT&T because it can "reach out and touch".My post was no tongue in cheek statement. Currently our so called season is happening in the lower Peninsula. You can use any legal firearm period. That's a fact and go look it up. Also you are allowed a 12 deer total. Two bucks an 10 does but unfortunately this is not good management because certain areas don't have the deer herd. To support this. Maybe Southern Michigan yes but the Northern lower no way. Our group is a total of five hunters. The youngest members have been hunting for ten plus years. Total kill this year was three bucks an one doe. Total deer seen 9 for all of us. That includes trail cameras. This is private land and great deer habitat. We also don't shoot anything less than an 8 point.
So tell me we're over run with deer..?
Lansing and the DNR suck at management in our area.
Missouri went to an "alternative methods season" a few years ago... it used to be muzzleloader season, but... I guess times change. For this new season you can use any weapon EXCEPT centerfire rifle/shotgun. Pistols, in-lines, air guns, flint, cap, bow, crossbow, spears, etc.
What can you use? What's the alt method weapon.
.. that's OK.. I thought everything you mentioned was noAnything besides a centerfire rifle/shotgun. I forgot to mention rimfire weapons are prohibited as well.
You can use any center fire cartridge firearm except 22 rim fire. Shotguns, pistols, revolvers, crossbows, long bows, compound etc. are all legal. Yes you can use your muzzleloaders too..! Flintlock, percussion, in line. Even your b.p. pistols or revolver. I think I'll use my seven shot bolt action 50 cal BMG. Them whitetails are tough...lol
Just go online and double check the Michigan hunting rules.. The Upper Peninsula rules are different. Cheers
If there are to many deer you run the risk of the herd catching C.W.D. which you do not want. When you see a lot of deer and some have a poor looking shape
