:applause: :applause: after hunting with a scoped rifle and then changing for the basics, i find that i feel im a more accomplished hunter now and the confidence factor is through the roof! if you like the skill of hunting as opposed to ambushing at 300yds the ml is the way to go!

Ran a line in south park for a few years. Did some yoting also for the ranchers in the late 50s
early 60s. then they started the Roberts tunnel an
it became to crowded for my liking.I lit a chuck.

50cal-shooter, You'll do just fine with the .50 CVA. Better do some scouting for deer on the east side though. My Dad just got back from over in the Methow last night to check out how bad the winter kill was. He saw no road kill and the guys from the forest service in Winthrop said they have seen a bunch of deer carcasses laying around and not that many deer. We hunted Thompsen ridge and Alta unit for years but the numbers over the last four years keeps dropping. Have heard better reports coming out of the Loomis and Chesaw area though. Not taking the time for deer this year. We're going over to the Umtanum unit for spike elk. I didn't draw a cow tag this year but half of our merry band of critter killers did. why not try the .50 on black bear? It opens in just over a month. Lots of fun and they make really good sausage. BTW, I'm up in Skagit county. I do most of my shooting over on Whidbey at Greenes. Yea, I bit the bullet and bought a membership. Glad I did. real nice having the rifle range mostly to yourself.

I mainly hunted around the tonasket area, tunk mt, pontiac ridge, bonaparte, loomis, etc. One of the larges herds of mule deer migrate out of canada threw the upper Okanogan County area. As a matter of fact they laid the highway between Omak and Tonasket right over their main migration route.

So why are you going to use a cap gun? Go for it man, get a flintlock. That is where it's at! The cap gun isn't any different than any rifle with open sights.

I'll prob be gettin a flintlock eventually those look interesting, and fun too shoot aswell. I have to finish my Hawken first I have the last two pieces coming ( Barrel, Lockplate ). Next prodject is a .50 cal muzzleloader pistol.
