So I asked earlier about aging brass using the Jax black. I plan to blacken it then rub it back a bit. How durable is this finish? Will it continue to wear off?

Will the underlying brass continue to naturally patina (tarnish) or does the Jax protect it?

Anyone ever tried spraying the brass with some flat laquer to further protect the finish?

Lacquer peels off, forget it.

the Jax has produced some excellent "patina" on many guns shown here in photos.

I would just rub it with a dirty patch the first time you clean the bore after shooting black powder and then let the tarnish wear naturally from handling.

I tried the black powder residue on what was my shiny bright brass patch box....it sure does work to dull it down and add some character. I like it.
