Well, my 1st BP long gun arrived yesterday - a Traditions Crocket (.32). Got it from Midsouth, where they were about $50 under what it would have cost me locally, so I got all the stuff to go with it for about the same price. I have a .36 colt navy, but this will be my first time shooting a black powder rifle. I chose this one mostly based on the glowing reviews posted on this forum by owners of Crocketts - I figured if there are that many people who like them, they must be pretty good guns.
I did notice that Traditions' "Universal" nipple wrench is anything but. I saw where somebody on this board had the same problem and said that Traditions took care of them. I'll give them a call today & see if they can't get me one that'll fit.
I ran some cleaning patches through it last night and didn't see any signs of tearing, so I'm not sure about lapping/steel wool just yet. I'll probably get it to the range in the next couple of days and then see how things look.
I don't know how it'll shoot, but dang it's a pretty gun!
